- A panel of pre-selected judges from our project sponsors (The Design Council, Cornwall Council, University College Falmouth) will be responsible for choosing a winner from each Dott shot competition category.
- Each competition category has a different closing date (see below), however the photo groups will remain open for entries after the closing date for people who would like to contribute to DOTT Cornwall.
- Judges from the Design Council, Cornwall Council or University College Falmouth, as well as their immediate families are not eligible to enter. Entrants under the age of 12 years need to have parent or guardian consent to enter.
- All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered and must have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries or their parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured. Further, entrants must not have breached any laws when taking their photographs.
- Entrants will retain copyright in the photographs that they submit to DOTT shot. By entering the competition all entrants grant to DOTT Cornwall the right to publish and exhibit their photographs.
- No fees will be payable for any future use in DOTT publicity
- Winning entrants also agree to take part in post-competition publicity. While we make every effort to credit photographers, including in printed reproductions of their work, we cannot guarantee that every use of the photographs will include photographers' names.
- By entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules and DOTT reserves the right to exclude any entry from the competition at any time and in its absolute discretion if DOTT has reason to believe that an entrant has breached these rules.
- DOTT reserves the right to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.
- If the winner is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made, DOTT reserves the right to either offer the prize to a runner up or to re-offer the prize in any future competition.
- These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales. This competition is administered by DOTT Cornwall
LIVES judging criteria
Responding to the question, What does living in Cornwall mean to you? The panel of judges (from Cornwall Council) will award the prize to the photo that inspires them the most.
The judges will pay particular attention to how the photo successfully conveys the photographer’s emotion, creativity and insight. This category will not be judged on the quality of photo itself, although this may also be taken into account.

DESIGN judging criteria
Responding to the question, What designs have helped shaped Cornwall? The panel of judges (from the Design Council) will award the prize to the photo that inspires them the most. They will pay particular attention to designs that have had a big influence to the people of Cornwall. They will consider the impact the design has made economically, socially and environmentally. This category will not be judged on the quality of photo itself, although this may also be taken into account.

TALENT judging criteria
Responding to the question, are you a talented designer or budding designer? The panel of Judges from University College Falmouth will award the prize to the photo that they feel shows creative talent, and designer potential. They will award the training prize following an interview process to ensure suitability of student.
