About Dottshot

We want to know what you think design is so we have devised Dott Shot for you to send us a picture of your choice.

We are simply looking for great shots of design in Cornwall. This is not about how good the photo is, it's what you point the camera at that matters to our judges, so show us something interesting. Unleash your creativity and ingenuity, surprise or delight us, we also want to know your thoughts on why you have chosen your shot. It could be something which has been designed in Cornwall or something you think represents design in Cornwall, the choice is yours.

Lives

What does living in Cornwall mean to you?

Each month Cornwall Council's winner can choose their prize (up to the value of £100*) - it could be a physical object(s), experience or event - but it has got to pass the Cornwall provenance test. Perhaps it's a hamper of Cornish food, a weekend ticket to a Cornish festival, 30 pints of Cornish ale, a piece of art from a local gallery, a day out for the family at a local attraction, windsurfing lessons, 6 months supply of pasties... it's your choice.

Simply upload your shot, impress our judges and you could win £100 to spend on something Cornish.

Green

What does being green mean to you?

Is it using organic products or car sharing, recycling or sustainable home improvements? We want to see the interesting, novel or old style ways you think will help Cornwall become a “greener” place to live.

Thanks to Tracey Adams who uploaded an amazing shot of her "recycled" battery farm chicken using an old tyre in a new way (above). Tracey won a family ticket for the Royal Cornwall Show on the day.

Over the three days of the RCS, a 'solar powered back pack' donated by 35 Degrees, a Wattson DIY Kyoto from wow-wow and a set of 'solar garden lights' donated by Independant Energy were given away as prizes.

There are stll more prizes to be won in this category, so keep on sending in your pics! A 'solar panelled suitcase' donated by Plug Into The Sun and 'a tour for 4 around a wind farm' from CLP (Cornwall Light and Power).

Upload your shot with a short description.

Work

What does working Cornwall look like?

Linked to Dott's New Work project, we want to find out what “Working Cornwall” looks like. So upload shots of yourself others carrying out your daily job so that we can begin to build up a picture of the industry that lies behind the beautiful scenery and classic holiday snaps of Cornwall that we all know and love. We want to create the ultimate “real snapshot” of Cornwall’s economy.

For example...What does it look like to work behind the scenes of some of the UK’s best hotels? Who is responsible for maintaining the wind turbines on the A30? What does the inside of a working meat processing factory look like? What is it like saving lives at sea or saving lives in hospital? Please share your working life with us.

Upload your shot with a short description.

Talent

Are you a talented designer or budding designer?

Every picture tells a story and everybody has creative potential. So tell us your story and show us your work.

Upload a shot of your work and you could win some design training from University College Falmouth. If the Dott team think you have what it takes, you could even get a chance to take part in one of our Dott projects.

Design

What designs have helped shape Cornwall?

It could be something which has been designed in Cornwall or something you think represents design in Cornwall.

Each month the Design Council will judge which photo best represents design in Cornwall.

Click here to see last month's winner who won a a £100 voucher for the Aria online store.

Upload your shot with a short description and our judges could pick your shot.
